In light of recent event occurring in Ukraine, The Whittier College Choir is rehearsing a "Prayer for Ukraine".
Inspired by the lasting legacy of Professor Emeritus Stephen Gothold ’63 and the impact that he had on the lives of so many students, faculty, and staff who had the pleasure of working with him, friend and classmate Glen Warner ’63 established the Stephen Gothold ‘63 Endowed Scholarship during 2021.This new scholarship will support undergraduate students who are pursuing a music major or minor or who are vocalists in the Whittier College Choir. The initial gift of $50,000 to establish the endowment will support one student annually. Glen hopes his gift will inspire others to give in support of this scholarship with the goal to award multiple students in the future. To kick off raising the next $50,000, Glen will match the next $10,000 given toward the Stephen Gothold ’63 Endowed Scholarship. Please join us in making a gift.
In addition to honoring Stephen and their special friendship, this endowed scholarship is also a nod to the ways that Whittier College has enriched Glen’s own life. He credits the values he learned at Whittier with shaping his life, such as always striving to improve oneself along with enhancing the communities where one lives and works. He continues to live by those values and has left a positive indelible imprint on those around him and the communities he has served—much like his friend Stephen Gothold ’63 did for the Whittier College community.
