Thanks to YOU, the Pride Endowed Scholarship reached full endowment ($50,000) in 2021, and the first scholarship award will be made in the upcoming 22-23 academic year. Let’s keep this momentum going!
With $87,500 now committed in gifts and pledges, we have our sights set on a NEW $100,000 goal, which would allow Whittier College to award two scholarships per academic year.
The Pride Endowed Scholarship was established to provide need-based awards to members of Whittier’s LGBTQIA+ student organization, or those Whittier College students who have demonstrated experience in or commitment to working with LGBTQIA+ organizations.
Many LGBTQIA+ college students today face challenges in their personal lives, and some are even abandoned by their families for their identities. This scholarship will help alleviate some of the financial burden and send a strong signal of support from all of us, allowing Whittier’s LGBTQIA+ students to thrive as their authentic selves.
