Student Emergency Fund
EMERGENCY FUNDING AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
From time to time, students may face unforeseen financial hardships and difficult life events that affect their ability to complete their studies and access their education. The Student Emergency Fund, supported entirely by donors, provides practical assistance in situations when a little extra help will go a long way.
This academic year, 245 students have used the Poet Pantry, and a total of 12,519 items from the pantry have been used. 64 students have been supported with emergency funds, technical assistance, transportation, and food assistance this year alone. In addition to supporting students experiencing financial hardship and food insecurity, the fund now also supports:
- Emergency Mental Health Support
- Emergency Medical Expense Relief
- Emergency Housing
- Technology Rental Assistance
- Case Management Services
- Public Transportation Support (partnership with L.A. Metro and Metrolink)
- Transportation Assistance
- and other emergent cases that prevent a student from accessing their education!
